Custom Fittings – from then to now

Custom Fittings was founded by Edwin Crowther & Bob Atkinson in 1982. Together, they built Custom Fittings to reflect their shared values: a passion for quality, appreciation of engineering and a belief that companies should do all they can to nurture UK manufacturing.

Custom Fittings began trading in a small office with just two staff. We subcontracted the manufacturing processes and worked gruelling 36 hour shifts to meet order deadlines.

The setup is a stark contrast to where we are today, operating 24 hours a day with over 75 employees and exporting to more than 50 countries around the world from our very own design, manufacturing and warehousing facility in West Yorkshire, England. Our warehouse went through major expansion in 2018, as demand continued to grow for quality stainless steel hydraulic hose and pipe fittings.

Today, the still family owned business is run by Edwin’s two sons, Andrew Crowther, managing director and Mark Crowther, sales director. The business continues to go from strength to strength, growing year on year and providing hose, tube and pipe fittings and adaptors to some of the largest engineering bodies in the world. Our quality fittings can be found all over the globe – on a passenger plane, a fighter jet, at a petrol pump or an oil rig in the North Sea – all stamped with the Custom Fittings’ seal of quality.
